Heinz’ Girgarre tomato processing plant will shut its doors for the last time on Friday, a week earlier than the company originally intended.
The closure will cost 146 jobs and affect three local tomato growers.
A Heinz spokesperson said the decision to close the plant on Friday instead of January 14 was made in December to suit the production schedule.
