Students’ weight included on report cards

Obesity IllustrationMalaysian school children will have their weight included in end of term reports along with their grades, in a move the Government hopes will fight obesity.

Under the plan, the students’ reports cards will include a Body Mass Index figure, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph newspaper in Britain.

School canteens will be banned from selling sugary soft drinks and fattening junk food. Street vendors selling sugary fried snacks will be discouraged for setting up outside playgrounds when schools finish for the day, the newspaper reported.
