The verdict finally is in. Guilty as charged, Your Honour. And the sentence? Business as usual. The US Senate may have done its best to invoke a sense of righteous indignation with its final summing up of the causes of the financial crisis with its liberal approach to blaming and shaming.
But it is unlikely anything will change.
A handful of investment bankers at Goldman Sachs could face criminal charges although, given it has resumed forking out huge bonuses to its well-heeled employees, that will barely create a blip to proceedings.
